Knitter's guilt
You know, sometimes I'm so consistent it amazes me. No, I'm not consistent with my knitting, rather I'm consistent with my attitude towards knitting. I reach a boring part of the pattern or perhaps the near completion of an item, and my eyes and mind start to stray... Hey, what's that over there? Oooo, look at that! Something new and more interesting than what I'm doing now! You know, if I knit that in *fill in color here* that would look great with my brown bag, or my green skirt, etc. I become fixated. I must find the perfect yarn and knit this new item. Immeditately!
And the then once-loved object of my devotion gets put aside. Sigh, I loved you, but I need to move on. It's not you, it's me.
And right now, it's my obsession with socks. Yup, knit one pair in the whole of my knitting career. Never, ever wear them. Okay, but maybe it's because I wear boots. What if I knit knee socks that would peek out the tops? Like these (oh, so fabulous)! And then, suddenly, I was obsessed with finding non-wool sock yarn. And I almost cast on.
But then I heard this little voice from the bottom of the knitting pile. "Hey, what about me?" It was the afghan. Dammit! Dammit to hell!!!
So, the guilt got to me.

We should start a support group. I too fall out of love with my current WIPs and am seduced by the alluring song of the uncast on projects. I love your mitered squares, the colours are great.

Those are fun colors.
Hmm, maybe you could just knit calf bands that would peek out of your boot, instead of whole socks. ;)

Those norwegian socks are so hard to resist! I've been thinking about them for weeks and I'm not a knit sock person either, I've never knit a pair in my life!

Hey - less than 40 to go before you are halfway done! You could celebrate that milestone with knee socks...

Do those finished blocks mean that you get to start the socks now?

We are in a similar place, my friend. I am doing a bit of chore knitting myself - this filthy yarn slut is not allowed to start another project until at least 2 of the 5 in progress are complete.
