I blogged about Rhinebeck, but didn't blog about the skirt I knit for the big weekend. Here it is:
It's the running stitch skirt from the Fall 2010 Interweave. I used Debbie Bliss Pure Cotton (not crazy about that yarn) in chocolate with light blue and aqua for the stripes. I decided against the drawstring top and instead knit a facing into which I inserted 1" elastic. I think an elastic waist makes for a much more wearable skirt than a drawstring. (And thus I rationalize my descent into wearing only elastic waist clothes as I age. And while I'm at it, you kids get off my lawn)
The Ravelry details are here
And speaking of skirts, did you see this skirt from the latest Interweave preview? It has entered my queue along with this one from the latest knitty, and these two from Modern Top-Down Knitting. I may never knit another sweater.
I also recently purchased a new mid-season coat. Since it has elbow length sleeves, I knit me some armwarmers.
The pattern is from the Purl Bee and I used Misti Alpaca Tonos Pima Silk in Bowling Green. Good gravy, this yarn is so lovely! I used the hand painted version for a baby sweater with great results as well. Hmm, maybe I have enough of each left over for a budgie, especially since I just found out my niece is pregnant with her first. Which makes me a great aunt.
Going to drink a cocktail now as I consider my future self sporting elastic waist skirts and being a great aunt.
The skirt is fabulous! I am so amazed by your knitted skirts. And your arm warmers look so cozy. I love the color.

Those are some lovely skirts! I especially like the second in Modern Top-Down Knitting that you linked to (Seaport Skirt).

Ooooh, I have got to get my IK! That skirt is great - as are the others, of course. super cool armwarmers too - and don't think I missed the boots in that shot -- you're having quite the fashionista fall, huh??

I love your skirt, and those boots! Yikes, those are awesome. I already had Carnaby queued, and I think I'll have to add Isobel.

LOVE your skirt! I have been drooling over each one of them (sorry!) and I have a few questions because you have me wanting to make some myself (rather than drooling all over yours.)
Do you have any issues with the skirt sagging? Are there certain fibers that work better than others? Do you line them? How well do they wear (ie. do any of them tend to show a lot of wear and tear?) I would sooo appreciate any pointers or helpful hints you might have...Thank You!!!

Oh, Diana, tell me about those boots!!!
I've fallen into the elastic-bottoms group, too. This past weekend, I bought my first pair of mid-rise cotton/spandex trousers with hidden elastic in the waistband (but they don't look like Mom-jeans, I swear). Sadly, my circumference while sitting seems vastly different from my circumference while standing, so either things are unbearably tight while sitting or falling down while standing. I can't decide whether to blame this on aging or on the twin pregnancy.
Re the beautiful skirts: if you could answer staci's questions above in the comments, I would surely appreciate it!
PS Today, Casey is wearing the sweater you made for Meredith! We still love it! Thanks again. :)

I never have any problem with sagging in the rear of skirts. I've been knitting the skirts in cotton and linen. The only skirt that showed signs of wear was the linen kilt I made some time ago and that was because I wore it every other day. I am currently making a new one.
And the boots are Fluevog babycakes: http://www.fluevog.com/code/?w[0]=family:Minis&p=8&pp=1&view=detail&colourID=2859

Woman, that skirt is SWANK. LOVE! And, I too purchased one of those jackets and haven't worn it because of the cold. You just inspired me to finally knit arm warmers! Always wanted to knit some, but never had a purpose. :)
And yes, the boots = FAB. You are one stylish diva. ;)
